Early retirement
Now days pensions are not likely to come with your job, however if you do have one and you are not too far off from becoming vesting (like me) than keeping your current job maybe a good idea. For example, I need to put in five years at my current position to become vested. I have 2.5 years because I had to wait 6 months in order to start my pension called Public employee retirement system. They changed the name and have restricted it to tier three. So I imagine in the future one will not retire early with this structure.
In order to retire with a lot of money it’s a good idea to invest monthly through dollar-cost averaging. Also invest a good portion of your salary to stocks. Some advice I was given is to not use life insurance as a retirement strategy.
So at what age do you want to retire?
If you are in your early sixties and want to claim retirement at age 62 (which is the earliest you can) than you are not alone. Nearly 58% take social security at the age of 62. My father did because he worked a manual labor job and just could not physically do the work anymore. Close to 76% of Americans claim social security before they turn 65 years of age. I’m in my thirties and I have been told (rumors of course) that social security will not be around by the time I become 65 years old. Every year you should get a statement showing the projections of how much income you will get from social security by the age you will retire.
My advice to retire earlier than 65 years of age is to invest aggressively into stocks. I recently watched some Warren Buffet videos on YouTube and he recommends only investing in 5 or 6 stocks for the average investor. The advice to diversify is bad. So, if one invest for say 30 years with compounded interest than building at least 1 million dollars should be a realistic goal. Most experts suggest a retiree to have 30 years of money of assets saved by retirement age. People are living longer and longer and the average age for a man to live is 73 years and women 80 years.

break team is a scam |

So I hear my breaks grind as I come to a stop and it has been doing this for a month. I have been so busy with school and work I just could not get the time to get in for an inspection. Also feeling worn out played a factor. I have heard of break team and had the image of them being a low cost, budget brake job out fight. Boy was I wrong. Just this place is just the opposite. Bait and switch comes to mind. You would never guess what they quoted me. I was thinking as my car was getting inspected for 30 minutes. If the price is more than 500 I will probably not go through with it because that just sounds way too high for breaks. I get a quote for $1100. WOW. I asked the guy as in $1000 dollars. So after he showed me my car with the tires all off and breaks exposed I made a phone call to a couple of friends of mine. One has a nice shop with a lift. He said, ya that is high. Another friend of mine said don’t go there they are hustlers. They told him he needed ceramic brakes for his range rover. Right then he knew they are scammers. They also told him his air bag was out. I read a post earlier today and another potential customer heard the ceramic brakes scam too. I only went to this place because I had the image of a cheap place to get brakes done. I know a couple shops with child hood friends who own or run them, but assumed this place could do my breaks.
So I’m taking my car in for another estimate and find out what parts I really need. My friend said calipers rarely need replacing. Break team said my brakes are toast and I need calipers, pads, shoes, hardware kit, drums and whatever else they had on the quote. They quoted $800.00 for parts. So be aware break team is pulling bait and switches and have been banned from California and Las Vegas by the attorney general from what I read online. WATCH OUT!

information technology degree online |

Right now I work part time 29 hours a week for Portland Public Schools as a part time custodian, but it is getting really old. Thats why im going to portland comunity college and take most of my information technology degree online. I find I can save time without having to attend class physically. The bad part is if your not self motivated then I would recommend only taking classes in class. The two year degree called Computer information systems can be taking I believe fully online. I’m only taking two classes this term, Psychology and sociology. So, I’m contiplating taking classes and just getting this 2 year degree or doing that and then transfering ot Oregin Institute of Technology. This was my plan at first, but I did notice some jobs just want either experience. But how do you get the employers attention? I think you need a information technology degree if you want to get in the IT part of the computer industry. And, so jobs just require a bachlors degree. I think its just company policy. The great thing about the information technology field the pay is pretty good. A student starts out about 40k and I read the average pay is 70-80k for computer professionals. I would love to move up in PPS and get into the IT department. They are hiring for a few postions now, but the sad thing is I’m still in college. One day I will get their. I know I will. I learned to live looking at the bright side to everything. Think optimistic. Thoughts can change how you live your life. At least I think it does. This fall I will be taking mostly computer classes. So far I was taking some of the business classes and electives to see if I wanted to change my mind on my career choice. I’m older student, but it is never too late to get a education. It seems my classes sometimes influence what I want to really do with my life. In my marketing class I was hmmm maybe I should works towards a business degree. But after doing some research it is the most popular degree and the competition to get a job relating to this is fierce. Then I took a pyschology class and I was thinking man this would be a fun career. Then again I read it is the 2nd most sought after degree. Wow. Crazy how this is in order. I have always loved computers, the internet, and marketing. So I plan to stick to information technology and plus its a growing field.

oregon coast rentals |

I just got back from Lincoln city oregon on the coast. I starting to drive to highway 101 and just spend the day at Oswald state park and sit on the beach while I write a paper for a sociology class. Well it started raining and I checked out Rockway beach, however I haven’t stayed night at any oregon coast rental in Rockaway so I decided to head to Lincoln city. I feel comfortable staying at my favorite hotel, Bestwestern. The one I stay at is close to D river and next to Sea Gypsy. Another motel I use to go to plenty of times as a kid.
When I go to seaside oregon I like to stay on the cove side of the oregon coast. The reason is the flow of people is much calmer. As a kid once I again I would sometimes stay at my cousins condo right on the prom. Its called sand and sea. Unfortutualy he sold it in the 90’s. This is a little off topic, but if you have the money its a great time to invest in oregon coast real estate. I have noticed recently a ocean front house selling for 600k. That is a bargain. So I like to stay the night at the lanuai sorry for the misspelling. I will try and update this page.
This reminds me their is a real fun hike right behind this hotel, well not directly behind it, but you will see the small state park sign. If you hike far enough in you will see some cabins. I think you can rent them, but im not completly sure.
This summer I plan to do some rental evaluations so I should update more. So far I really enjoy the bestwestern though. The times I go I can always get a ocean front. I payed $110.00 including tax for a night. The day after memorial day.
Happy vacations. Everyone works so darn hard and you all deserve a nice relaxing vacation. I know I sure do. I look forward to going on mine this june.
