break team is a scam
Posted in: test this
So I hear my breaks grind as I come to a stop and it has been doing this for a month. I have been so busy with school and work I just could not get the time to get in for an inspection. Also feeling worn out played a factor. I have heard of break team and had the image of them being a low cost, budget brake job out fight. Boy was I wrong. Just this place is just the opposite. Bait and switch comes to mind. You would never guess what they quoted me. I was thinking as my car was getting inspected for 30 minutes. If the price is more than 500 I will probably not go through with it because that just sounds way too high for breaks. I get a quote for $1100. WOW. I asked the guy as in $1000 dollars. So after he showed me my car with the tires all off and breaks exposed I made a phone call to a couple of friends of mine. One has a nice shop with a lift. He said, ya that is high. Another friend of mine said don’t go there they are hustlers. They told him he needed ceramic brakes for his range rover. Right then he knew they are scammers. They also told him his air bag was out. I read a post earlier today and another potential customer heard the ceramic brakes scam too. I only went to this place because I had the image of a cheap place to get brakes done. I know a couple shops with child hood friends who own or run them, but assumed this place could do my breaks.
So I’m taking my car in for another estimate and find out what parts I really need. My friend said calipers rarely need replacing. Break team said my brakes are toast and I need calipers, pads, shoes, hardware kit, drums and whatever else they had on the quote. They quoted $800.00 for parts. So be aware break team is pulling bait and switches and have been banned from California and Las Vegas by the attorney general from what I read online. WATCH OUT!
