“She really wasn’t happy with her performance and she did want it to be perfect for Dolly, who she idolizes,” said Cindi Berger, a spokeswoman for Simpson. Besides Parton, the Washington, D.C., tribute honors Andrew Lloyd Webber, Zubin Mehta, Smokey Robinson and Steven Spielberg. Caroline Kennedy is the host.

“We appreciate the time and energy Ms. Simpson put into this event and respect the high standards she has for herself and that of the Kennedy Center Honors,” said George Stevens Jr., show producer.

Maybe she really is a the stereo type blonde and just can’t remember her lines.

Just days after messing up the lyrics in her Dolly Parton tribute, Jessica Simpson is reportedly having trouble with her lines on the set of Blonde Ambition and had to get an earpiece so a crew member could read her her lines. A source on the Louisiana set says:

“After the seventh take on one shot, the director hid a microphone in her ear so a crew member could feed her lines,” a source told the tab. “Everyone was embarrassed for her, but she laughed it off, saying ‘I’m sorry, everyone. I’m sorry.’” Co-star Luke Wilson was sympathetic, reports the source, and “patted [Simpson] on the back and told her it would be okay.”

But it’s not okay, is it, Jessica? Soon everybody’s gonna realize you never learned to read and that you didn’t really attend Princeton like you’ve been telling everybody. And inside the covers of that book you’re always looking at? Pictures of butterflies. Oh woe is you, Jessica. Woe is you.

Jessica Simpson frozeup at the Kennedy Center Honors Sunday night while singing “9 to 5″ as part of a tribute to honoree Dolly Parton. During the song she flubbed some lines then uttered, “So nervous,” before rushing off stage to no applause. She also appeared to be in tears when she and the other singers retruned to the stage at the end. I know what you’re thinking. A Simpson sister screwing up during a live performance? The thought is so ridiculous it’s almost unbelievable. I might as well have told you dragons were invading Florida or Santa got into a fist fight with the Grinch.
